As part of the 2022 Parks Bond Referendum, Raleigh Parks is proposing new site improvements to Green Road Park.  Improvements include park accessibility and safety enhancements, a new restroom building, site amenity renovations, recreational improvements, and public art.  

Raleigh Parks invites you keep sharing your thoughts and ideas during park design process.  Your thoughts regarding Green Road Park are important to ensure that visions for the park, amenities, and facilities meet the needs of the community.  Input received will be used in finalizing decisions on site improvements.

Project Schedule:

  • Summer 2023:   Initial project planning
  • Fall 2023 - Winter 2024:   Community Engagement, Concept Design, and Schematic Design
    • ​October 17, 2023:  Public Open House #1 - project visioning
    • February 3, 2024:  Public Open House #2 - draft concept plan
    • Spring 2024:  Public meeting to present schematic design plan
    • Spring 2024:  Presentation of the schematic design to the Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Greeway Advisory Board
  • Summer 2024 – Spring 2025:   Advanced Design and Permitting
  • Summer 2025 – Fall 2026:   Bidding and Construction

In October 2023, Raleigh Parks hosted the project's first open house.  Main takeaways include: 

  • Improved restroom facilities
  • More seating at ballfields
  • Gathering and open spaces for events
  • Improvements to park paths
  • Better connections between library, Community Center, and park
  • More picnic areas 
  • Larger and updated playground
  • More recreational opportunities such as futsal and pickleball

Ideas from Public Open House #1 were used to develop the draft concept plan shown below.
